i would say that dave always seemed to have been melodic and he could sing alot softer than roger without having it sound bad. i will say that dave could not have sang the wall, rogers voice fit the theme of it perfectly.

Pink Floyd's songs sound more melancholic when Waters is on the mic. His voice is more mellow than Gilmour's but he loses out when it comes to the power of vocal chords.

Waters has more presence in the studio as is evident in The Wall and The Final Cut but on the stage it's Gilmour who takes over.

It's a tuff one, but if I had to choose, I'll pick Roger Waters. I wonder how Syd would sound like on The Wall???

David Gilmour!! I don't know why, his voice is so much more mellowing and its just better. It goes so well with his guitar playing; his singing style and guiter playing style match...I can't really explain why though.
My two favorite songs are Time and Comfortably Numb, both have Gilmour singing.
