There are historical reasons. The US did not support the Zionist movement more than it did for Arab nationalism. However, in the 1950s, most of the Arab countries allied themeselves with the USSR and the US, by proxy, was left with Israel. In 40 years of Cold War, these relationships only intensified. The fact that some Arab leaders have also supported terrorist attacks against Americans only added back then to the picture; the fact that most of these countries are not democratic and are in fact opposed to everything the US stands for, is also a factor.

However, the Clinton and Carter administrations (for example) saw their best interests in promoting peace in the region. Carter promoted the Peace Agreement between Israel and Egypt; Clinton sponsored the peace agreement between Israel and Jordan and also tried to help to bring peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

The Bush Administration, partly because of its general worldview, doesn't seem to support negotiation over fighting.

This doesn't mean that the US is really "against Arabs and Muslims". The US, and especially the Bush Administration, is very friendly with the Saudis (and other Muslim and Arab countries).

So they will support Israel till they take down Hezbollah then Syria will collapse and Iran will become another state for Imperalist America. the Arabs have fighting each other for many centuries. Now they have turned on Israel and America plus all of Europe but unfortunately the Europeans do not know it yet. Because if Arabs and Muslims would put down their guns TOMORROW - there would be world peace TOMORROW.

But if Israel were to put down their guns TOMORROW, there would be another holocaust TOMORROW.
