I seriously doubt I'll match your opinion.
My picks are based off of combination of last few years performance, how they are doing this year, likelyhood that they'll still be having a great year at the end of the year. I also factor in defense and intangibles like leadership, being a good team player, etc.

C - Pudge, Victor Martinez
1B - Pujols, Berkman
2B - Giles, Vidro (Biggio gets an honorary mention. Still one of the hardest playing players in the game, actually history of the game. You have to go back to Pete Rose to find more hustle.)
SS - M. Young, Tejada and Jeter All 3 hit and play great defense. All 3 having great year, likely to finish with a great year and likely to have at least a good year next year.
3B - A-Rod, Chipper Jones

RF - Suzuki, Vladimir Guerrero
Suzuki is also an increadible hitter. Guerrero to me is overated. However RF is pretty slim lately. Ordonez is a much better player but coming off two years lost to injury hard to pick him over Vlad yet. There are some youngsters who can unseat Vlad as well.

CF - Beltran. Sizemore and Damon Hard to limit to just two out of that group. Beltran has slightly better hitting stats. Damon slightly better than Beltran with the glove. Sizemore the only youngster of the group. If I had to pick only one I'd go with Sizemore as he'll just keep getting better and better for a long time.
LF - Manny Ramirez then toss up between Matt Holliday and Jason Bay
I'm probably the only one picking Holliday. Even given the Colorado inflation of numbers this guy can hit. He's young and I bet next year he really breaks out into MVP type numbers. Already this year only Bay is keeping up with him at bat.
Even with all the contraversy Manny generates hard not to pick the guy the way he hits. Even given the inflation of playing in Fenway Manny is an awesome hitter.

DH - Thome, Hafner (Ortiz has more HRs but not by much. Hafner is a more complete hitter than Thome or Ortiz, Thome the better pure power hitter that leaves Ortiz just missing out.)

Starters -
I am ignoring the one season wonders of this year. We'll see who is doing well next year. Many starters come up with a great year but once folks learn thier style they are unable to adjust and soon struggle. So when batters have seen them a few times and they are still spectaculer then I'll start believing in them.

Brandon Webb - Young, would be Cy Young cantidate for a better team. Consistant. ERAs of under 3.00 two out of 4 years, ERA of around 3.50 the other two.

Chris Carpenter - Wasn't much with the Jays but with the Cards this guy has really put it together. 3 good years and still going strong.

Johan Santana - Hard to ignore this guy even though alot of people did until he had his break out year. 3 great years in a row including a Cy Young.

Curt Schilling - Oldie but still wins a phenonamal number of games

Roy Halladay - Cant argue with success and Halladay has had alot of it.

Mark Mulder - Hurt this year but as long as it didn't take his arm out this guy is one of the best in the game.

Jason Schmidt - Consistantly very good. Virtually unoticed in SF.

Carlos Zambrano - Consistantly good and in a hitters park no less.

Mike Mussina - Not really that good last couple years but puting together a great year this year and has had an excellent career.

Too many to pick a 10th. Zito was brilliant one season, had a couple other good ones but been less than spectaculer.

Pettite, Penny, Pedro and Randy Johnson would have made this list easy if not for such a horrible 06. All but Penny are old enough that this may well be more than just a bad year. Willis was still proving he's for real when he had this miserable year.

Relief - Rivera, Hoffman
Two Hall of famers though slightly out of thier prime both can outpitch anybody else on the mound. Wagner is a distant third. Nobody else even considered.

Whoever picked Dye has to be crazy. The guy is a KO waiting to happen has a career of medicoraty. Lots of HR but very very few RBI to go with all those KOs and HRs.
