such as "Jesus Christ!!"

but not acceptable to say "Jesus Christ, i love you" or something. why can we not talk about Jesus unless we are using His name in a disgraceful way?

I don't think it's acceptable to say "Jesus Christ" for any other reason than to talk about Him or to pray to Him. To use it as an explicit is a sin.

First, using the Lord's name in vain is more like sayin "God Damn!" and not "Jesus Christ!" To be honest the latter sounds more like a call to God than anything else. It's an exclamation normally associated with a "What..." interrogative. like "What were you thinking?" It's like saying "Lord give me help in understanding this fool." So I have little problem with anybody who does as you phrase it take the Lord's name in vain.

Second, I am guessing you are talking about using Jesus's name in a public school or public building such as a court. The Problem there is that Some people who call this country their home don't share your enthusiam about Jesus, and according to the Constitution they don't have to. I went to a private school so I never had that problem.

And just because I feel like stating this. I find it entrusive the way some Christains behave. WWJD bracelets, for example make me think of the money lender outside the Temple of David. I also find Baptists a bit annoying with their "Have you found Jesus?" rhetoric. I never heard He was lost. Maybe He is with Waldo. I am just trying to point out that not all Christians worship the same, and; you need to understand that it is not your place in the great picture of things to tell them that you are right and they are wrong, unless in my case I invited it by telling you this.

I agree with you. I came from a home where the word Gee couldn't even be said because my deacon grandfather (who raised me) said it was just a slur for Jesus. I talk to Jesus every day and I don't care who knows it. Using His name in vain is not cool in my book for any reason.

It's OK because Jesus was only Jewish, never Christian. Christianity was'nt even invented until, about 113 years after "The King Of Jews" was murdered by the Romans. Also, saying "Jesus" was never, is'nt ever now, now will it ever be "disgracful". Only religious bigotry, and discrimination is disgraceful.

It is acceptable to say Jesus Christ, but what is not welcome is to try and shove a single religious ideology down someone or more peoples throats.
Faith and its lesser brother belief are personal issues of great import. It is acceptable to state your opinion, but not to state your convictions in hope of changing someone else's mind or heart.
Sorry but Separation of Church and State is in the Constitution not as an after thought or a suggestion, but in as a Constitutional basic Principle that organizes our way of life and in part makes America what and who it is.
