Ripping a cd means the computer is taking it into your music library. It will be in your My Music folder, then you can either store it or burn a cd and make a copy. Just follow the prompts.

Ripping a CD means that you convert it from its standard format to a portable format. For example, you take a normal audio CD and convert all the tracks on it to MP3s. Compared to the original tracks, the MP3s are very small and can easily fit on a portable device.

It may mean taking the data on the disc and copying it onto your hard drive. Such as copying the files from an audio CD onto your hard drive could be considered "ripping" the data. Though, it may have different definitions.

>>>It's not wrong in my opinion. It's the best thing that ever happened to this overcrowded polluted planet of needy people. Gays by definition can't reproduce. Honor them. Give the a huge tax break for not overtaxing the world's resources. And no, I'm not gay.>>>

Not taxing the world's resources??? Gays are far more susceptible to a whole bunch of deadly diseases, requiring a great deal of medical care and medication and whatnot.

How are they not taxing the world's resources?

The average gay man in America lives to be about 41 years old. Is this also part of the plan to reduce overpopulation and pollution?

By the way, the world is not overpopulated -- and it's cleaner than ever. The ideas that the world is heavily overpopulated and heavily polluted (compared to years gone by) are both myths.

this usually applies to an audio cd.
Have u notice that u cannot copy and paste a song track from an audio disc to ur hard disk?

so the only way of transferring of the song from the disc to ur computer is call ripping...meaning to take the audio/sound from the disc and convert it into another format that will be playable from the hard disk. (ie. to an mp3, wave, or wma and etc). u can rip audio disc using multimedia players like ur windows media player, winamp, realplayer etc...

same goes to dvd...videos in the dvd cannot be copied directly into hard disk, it have to be ripped with a program...

good luck trying...

I've always understood 'ripping' to mean 'ripping off' as in stealing.
