You might try a music theme. You could do one era for the whole party or do a mix of several.20's flapper, 40's swing, 50's bop/rock, 60's flower power and psychedelic, 70's rock, 80's heavy metal, 90's and now. You could do a costume party for all the eras and have a best in theme and most creative costume prize. The music can be downloaded onto a cd or two and played by a dj who has learned the lingo for each era and can intro. each one differently. You can brush up on a few of the dances with a few of your closest friends so the party will be a big hit. You can rent movies with all of the dance styles or you may find something online to learn from. You can end the night with a few of your fav style songs and always end the evening with a slow dance.Don't forget the mirrored ball, small lights, flashing psychedelic lights, and black lights to enhance the mood. The lights could be hooked up to the sound system to flash with the corresponding music. Food is really easy since it hasn't changed that much. Sandwiches, chips, dips, punch or colas,a few fresh veggies cut and served with a ranch dip or your fav,and a cake! Happy b'day and contact me if I can help. I love coming up with ideas but I don't know you or your style so it is hard to tell you much right now.

It depends on your girl, this is going to be one her last "innocent" parties (maybe I don't know) Are you going for a day party? A night Party? Coed (no, please...) Slumber party?-I did a '50's party for my girls 14th party, I bought like 100 45's (single records?) and glued the invitation on one side and then sent the "invitations" out to the girls each with a gold pen for them to write a note to Amanda on the other side of the 45 (It's something she still keeps) I had a friend who was great making these really cheap "Poodle" skirts, she got a pattern online and for a couple of bucks per/girl I bought a bunch of felt in different colors, and each girl picked her colors and we made skirts (Well BL made skirts) and you know how EMBARRASSINGGGGG it can be- but they really got into it! Then I had friends (not THEIR mothers, other moms) over and we did hair and make up. Obviously they can do that themselves, but we made a big deal of "hairstyles" etc. All the while I was making Milkshakes and I had downloaded a Bunch of 50's songs which of course they didn't know. Oh also used the rest of the 45's to decorate the rooms by putting yarn through the middle and hanging them at different lengths from the ceiling all over the house. Then to embarrass them further took them roller skating. In retrospect it sounds a lot harder than it was, but I was lucky enough to have BL and the other Mom's helping.
OR since the Pirate thing is so big this year, they can be pirates going on a treasure hunt? (ok one theme takes two pages to get through, one them is 2 lines) Don't present it like a kid's pirate party; present it as a Johnny Depp Pirate Party!

Just go by what she likes...like what tv shows does she like....you can go to birthdayexpress.com and search there. Like if she likes that Bratz theme, I would do it in that, or babrbie...whatever she likes...I am sure you can find something that she likes. If you have a place near you called Party City (or something like a Party City) I would go there and look around.
Good Luck! :o)
