I have a very bad habit of cursing. It's like that every single sentence on the tip of my tounge contains at least a single 'fcuk' or much 'sh*t'. 'Holy ****' is my regular phrase. My friends really hate this habit of mine and this is getting really inconvenient for me. Although, I did not find anything so BAD about it. I mean, it's not meant to hurt anyone and nobody's feeling is hurt by my words, so why bother? Still, since I live in a very well-behaved and moralistic society, they want me to get rid of this 'bad' habit.

First, what should I do and how to do it?

Thanks, people

Here are a couple of suggestions:

To get yourself catching yourself ... make yourself put 50 cents in a jar for a charity every time you curse. This will help make you more aware of doing it. (And follow through .. give the "donations" to a charity when you have conquered the habit).

Then, everytime you catch yourself, before you curse, stop, and rephrase what you are going to say ... don't just substitute another word for the curse word, its essentially not changing the habit if you do it that way.

If you dont catch yourself and you curse, apologize to who you are talking to (this helps burn it in to your own consciousness), then rephrase what you were saying.

Good for you!!
Good luck!

Just don't say the curse words. They really do sound bad, especially coming from a lady. My daughter is cursing a lot, so she has made a cursing jar. Everytime she says a curse word, and her 3 daughters listen to her like a hawk, she has to put a quarter in the jar. She has only been doing this a week and has about $7 in the jar. I've noticed her language is getting better little by little. Good luck to you.

replace it with a good habit, instead of swearing(cursing) think of a better word to describe the situation. Don't swear for 21 days and you will find you won't need to. Also its much more fun describing something or someone as a put down than swearing at them.
So decide for 21 days not to swear and see where it leads, you might even enjoy it
If you are having trouble finding the right word use a dictionary

I used to curse when I was in high school, and it never really stuck with me, cuz it left a bad taste in my mouth. One thing I learned to do was substitute the bad words with good ones, i.e.: sugar for s***; fork for f***; dog for d***; you get the point. It takes a lot of practice and thinking before you speak. You could also enlist your friends to help you, like, they could charge you a dollar (or more) for every time they hear you cursing. Then, you could use the money for something good.

Try Hard To Watch What You Say
It Will Become Easier To Stop Swearing As You Go

I think its like anything, just pay attention to the action, and stop. Might take time. I am more interested in why people care if you cuss, if its around kids, thats one thing, but I know some people that do, some that dont, its just words, we have people killing others in the name of some made upo god and your friends care about silly words. In fact, I say F u ck em, if they cant take a joke.

We are creatures of habit. The trick is to learn good habits.
Rewire the brain. Cursing is no big deal. If your friends are
bothered by it, simply train yourself to not use curse words.

LOTS AND LOTS of willpower. My mother-in-law wants me to quit swearing around her, and I have to consciously think of what I will say before I say it so I don't accidentally swear in front of her. Try substituting another word in place of swears. One person I knew actually bleeped when he was going to swear, like on television.
