When purchasing a postage stamp, you are entering into an official contract with the post office to deliver your mail within a "Reasonable" time.
If they do not, you can then sue them for the full cost of the item, {if you have proof of what was in your package}, and the cost of the postage stamp too.
Unfortunately, you cannot sue them for mail posted to yourself that is lost or mis-placed, unless you have posted it to yourself in the first place, because you have not created the contract on the postage paid for the item.

No.
The only time the USPS will pay for mis-delivery is if the article was registered or insured. If only registered, you only get back that fee. If insured you get the amount of insurance you purchased if the entire item is lost.
USPS has no liability for mis-forwarding of mail.
Since the USPS does not create change of address requests, did someone else at your address move and send a change of address that somehow covered you also? If so, just go down to the post office and fill out the forms to have your mail re-forwarded back to you.

LMAO - I hate the USPS. They did that to me about 3-4 weeks before Christmas a couple years ago & guess what happend to all my mail & presents for family and friends? Yup, they got sent back stamped "Return to Sender: Addressee Unknown." Unfortunately, I would say no. I wish so. We just get to deal with the idiots that work there. Hell, if you start a class action lawsuit, let me know, I'd go in on it.

"When I did not move", well.........SOMEBODY filled out a change of address card, without you knowing!! Maybe, whoever did it just wanted your mail. It's the same as stealing. If the Post Office gets a change of address card, they can only assume it was from YOU. You should talk to the postmaster, or the posatal inspectors.

once you fill out your replace of handle card, it is going to the CFS (workstation Forwarding equipment) of the Postal provider, broken up into zones. for Northern california, it extremely is in Sacramento. the counsel is positioned into the equipment and the equipment (it extremely is automatic) is now on the alert. once you mail is going for processing throughout the MSC (Mail Sorting midsection) to your diistrict, while the device sees the previous handle, it kicks it out with all the different mail and places it in particular trays to be despatched to the CFS, the place the yellow forwarding decal is located on it. Inserted returned into the mail circulate, the decal 9with the forwarding handle) is study via the device and now despatched to the recent handle. Now, the equipment isn't desirable and issues bypass incorrect, it extremely is why the mail service at your previous handle is given a label to positioned on forwarding taking part in cards, to remind them that Joe Smith at 123 significant highway has put in a forward. while they see this mail, they do a instruction manual ahead of it to CFS, so it could get into the equipment. conventional rules: first-type mail is forwarded for a 300 and sixty 5 days. 2nd type Mail (magazines and newspapers) is forwarded for 60 days, with it eventualluy going returned to the mailer for them to desirable suited the handle. third type mail (the infamous unsolicited mail) is killed on the place of work and discarded (third type is dealt with in a distinctive way and would possibly no longer actual mail in into the mailstream as first-type does). Fourth type (e book golf equipment, archives golf equipment, parcels, media mail, and so on) is forwarded for a 300 and sixty 5 days, yet you should %. up the postage as a remailing. Now, no longer ALL of you mail gets to you. Any letter bearing the fact handle CORRECTION asked is going to get the forwarding decal located onto it and come back to the sender to desirable suited the handle from previous to new. They pay for that provider. it extremely is often suggested to suggested those serious mailings (like charges and tax refunds) of your new handle so it could pass the equipment thoroughly. additionally, in case you do too many strikes in a 300 and sixty 5 days, it could extremely shrink to rubble the equipment to the component the place the equipment won't settle for any new forwards
