It's just a problem with being confident. Have someone sneak up on you sometime so that they hear you sing but you don't know they're there. If they say you're good, you'll gain self-confidence. Build up from there.

You just get nervous! Don't worry so much. Even if you don't realize it, you are worried that everyone is going to hear you, and that you'll screw up in front of everybody. This isn't just me talking either. I play guitar and sing in coffee shops in the area I live in, and the first time I ever played my voice was cracking all over the place, and I almost threw up all over the mic because I knew I sounded really awfull! The only thing you can really do is relax yourself, hope for the best, and don't worry about what everyone else thinks. Just sing for the fun of it. And if it isn't fun, it's not worth doing. No matter how good you are. If you get nervous, imagine everyone in their underwear!!! It really helps sometimes! Lol! Anyways, I hope this helps you out.

70's rock music icon Rod Stewart once said it really doesn't matter if a vocalist hits each note right--so much as the one singing is FULLY HAVING FUN on stage. Stewart, by his own admission (and he's quite right), said he can't sing, but people more enjoy his energetic stage presence, which helps his singing weaknesses.
And it worked quite well for him, too.
Drop the comedic act performing for people; full throttle fill your heart with fun--sing and wow the crowd with your own energetic stage presence.

You're insecure about your singing, and this causes your body and your vocal folds to tense up making you screech/off-key, etc. It's not easy to fix that kind of problem because it's the same problem as making a shy person more social, but stage fright usually goes away with more and more exposure to the stage itself.

And the people decided by votes! You must have proper singing lesson, because it sounds like they were annoyed when you sang! Anyway lots of singers are not singer inborn but have desired and trained to sing and earned money!

Have you joined a school chorus or a church choir? They are excellent training for your voice, will teach you about music & it will let your friends know that you are interested in singing. You probably will get over your fears if they know it's what you love to do.

i think it's nerves when your with a baby and youre
singing to it you want something from it
you want to please it or maybe calm it and currently your not forcing your voice out youre just singing for the sake of it is what you might think to make it happier and that's
a good thing then when your with your friends all you want to
do is prove yourself and at the same time you want youre voice to be heard and stressing to get it all out when all you could do is believe you can sing!

I have the same prob. Try singing with your eyes closed and concentrate fully on the song only.
