These might be really stupid questions...

I'm thinking of buying new panties from Gap or Victoria's Secret because my old ones don't seem to be the right size or shape.

1. How do I know what size to buy? They don't really give you adequate measurement and size info on the websites.

2. Should I go to the stores? Is it possible to try panties on in the store? Even if it is, is it hygienic?

3. Also, the categories/names of different panties are really confusing. Is there a "guide" somewhere for all that terminology? I still can't figure them out even after looking at the product pictures.

Any advice is appreciated :)

1. Some stores have them marked as your pants size. But seeing as how most of my underwear is either from Victoria's Secret or Gap, I'm pretty sure that since there is only 3 sizes (Small, medium, and Large - XSmall or XLarge, I'm not so sure about), it shouldn't be so hard to find a pair that fit right as you can just see from looking at them. If you must, just take all three of one pair into the dressing room and you should have a better idea.

3. Since I know my size, I don't have to try my underwear on in the store. It is definitely not 100% sanitary (especially if it's on something like the clearance rack, lol), but I think the store is required to wash all the underwear, so it's not like you are going to get an infectious diseases, lol. And yes, it's VERY possible to try underwear on in the store. But I'd advise just using the three sizes of one pair so that you know your size, and then you can just pick out the rest of the underwear that you want without having to try them on.

3. There is more styles of underwear in Victoria's Secrets and Gap but, let's just run through them really quick, lol:
-The regular underwear that goes all the way around your butt (lol) with the thick straps are just regular underwear. Hipsters/boyshorts/bootyshorts are basically all the same thing, but they leave your cheeks hanging out a little and the strap is a little wider (so basically VERY short shorts, like hot pants but shorter, lol).
-Thongs are of course the showy ones that show your butt and has the little triangle in the back and covers you in front.
-G-String is the same thing as a thong but without the triangle in the back, just the thin straps, also called a T-Back.
-A V-string is basically the same as a thong but shows a little less in front.
-And of course bikini string is the regular underwear with the thin straps around it

Hope this helps! And good luck!

These are all excellent questions. But if your old panties no longer fit, then buy the next size up or down depending on how your old panties feel on you. Also what style panty are you wearing now: bikini, hi-cut, hipster or briefs. Buying panties is not all that hard when you purchase them in a nice place like Victoria's Secret, the sales people in there are so helpful. So go spend some money and replace those old stained panties with some new fresh panties.

You should go into the store. Go to Victoria's Secret and ask them your questions- they should be trained to answer these exact questions. They should also be trained in how to fit you.

I have found that the number size of panties is generally smaller than the number size of your clothing. So if you wear a 9 in pants, you probably wear a 7 or 8 in panties.

I'd give the rough estimate that, in general sizes are....

XS= 0- 3/4
S = 5- 5/6
M = 7 - 7/8
L = 9 - 9/10
XL= 11 - 12, maybe up to 13/14

You can't really go by sizes- just like in clothing every style and every brand is different.

Wow, lots of questions! =)
For sizing you should go by what pant size you wear, or maybe a little smaller. For example, I wear a size 6 in pants, but a size 5 in panties. You're not really supposed to try them on. Plus, I wouldn't advise that. It's kind of gross, because there are people who do. If you try them on, then do so with your undies on.
Next, for the style. You have to first decide what your purpose is. Low-rise bikinis are really in right now since all of the pants that designers make are low cut. You don't want to show your panty waist line in the back. If you need panties to wear under tight pants, & don't want to show panty lines then, buy thongs.

The whole thing is just kind of a trial and error thing. Maybe buy 1 panty in each style, then wear them and see which fit you like best. Then go back and buy more of that style.
Hope that helps! Happy panty shopping!

What I would do is buy a size of each that is either a bigger size of the ones you outgrew or a smaller. Not all of the ones, just two or three. Just in case if you grow any larger (as we all do as we get older, belive me) you can keep the ones that don't fit because I know that GAP or Victoria's Secret will not let you return it for hygenic reasons.

go to Wal-Mart first that way you wont wast a lot of money if they don't fit you the way you want them to , hold them up in front of yourself and see if they will go around you , then buy one pair , go home and try them on then next time buy accordingly

If you have to ask about this one, you shouldn't be on the computer alone. Ask your mom.
