The Moon? an example of space littering!
Do me a favour and check your facts instead of assuming that the US is the leader in those fields.

At one time it was sports. Baseball,Tennis,Basketball we were number one.People say we may lose our lead in Cheer leading to Japan next year..The number one women doubles tennis team is now from China.Our Military is Number one.We have 12 air craft carries China has 2 and France one.We have not used our whole fleet of carries in over 60 years.Yes we are number one in overkill !

Well, in terms of technology, the public sector only has use of small percentage compared to asian countries etc.
