A general location would be helpful in answering your question. Without that, the best advice would be to visit your local library, historical society, or community newspaper and start asking questions. The smaller the community you are located in, the more likely you are to turn up information in a timely manner. You might also want to walk the neighborhood and talk to the oldest residents, you will be amazed at the information they possess about their neighborhoods.

Good luck with your search.

You can go to the city hall, and find out where the hall of records are for the building dept. And look upm your adress and find out who built the house, then you go to the news paper back issues dept ask them for the year your house was built, look on the mico-phish and see if there was any deaths at your address. In alot of these old houses its just the house itself makes noises due to the wood expanding and contracting, also the foundation is settling and moveing.

you should be able to call the county court house and they should have a list of the people that have owned it at the county collectors office.
