Ellem: maybe that is why I get so many ladies over to my apartment, because I love to cook. Last nt the girlfriend came home from 5 days in Java and I showed her my disaster from last wk: a lemon meringue pie, where the meringue was all black. She asked me: "ah what were u doing when it burnt?" "You with girl, eh?"

Ah yes, because Indah had come that night and I just couldn't get the whites to whip up. I was using a new Braun hand whipper and I had the speed on too high. And then I was using a plastic bowl. I used to make cheese soufles in a copper bowl and I got them to rise by hand. Anyhow, I made a second batch of meringue and it didn't rise, so I just threw it in the oven and then started entertaining Indah and set the timer for 35 minutes. Well, after we returned from the playroom, and I took the pie from the oven, it was all black. It was still edible, though and the next day, I searched the internet and got all kinds of advice on how to make mirengue using lemon juice or tartar with metal bowls. I still have that copper one.

Well, anyways, next time ur in Jkt, ur invited over, and I will acquaint you with the benefits of narcissism. I don't cook Filipino cuisine, but I can do Italian, French, Thai. Maybe there is a trick you can teach me?

Humans always pride themselves to be a higher species because of their ability to think and make decisions. In my opinion, the ability to think is starting to get in the way of our lives. Because people think, and everyone think differently, quarrels and fights are started. Because people think, their school essays get discredited; students are not supposed to think, they are supposed to 'think' like people of the past who had written some books or some form of evidence and include those in the essays. Because people think, those who don't think have to conform to the ideas of the former. Because people think, they cannot come to a decision about some things and it will always be there, never-ending, never gonna be solved. Because people think. Too much in fact. Wouldn't it be good if everyone just do things without thinking too much? Go for it. On impulse. On instinct. Would that make things better? Look what has all the thinking done to us. Yes, we have the technology, the entertainment and everything else which people of the past did not have but we no longer have the simplicity in people. I'm not saying that people in the past did not think but they were smarter. They don't think so much. What's the point of thinking so much and still no conclusion and decision could be made? Doesn't that make you feel worse?

Bottomline: we think too much. Don't k. To whoever this is applicable to.

We are camping this weekend and I have packed burger fixings, some smokies for the grill, and I have been marinating pork chops in lemon, olive oil and rosemary for the BBQ. We are also having Strawberry Cheesecake as it is one of the camper's birthday! We usually eat better camping than at home!!!!
