Nolan Ryan...admittedly, I got to watch him pitch in games, whereas Gibson, Koufax, etc, I've only seen highlights or read about...and I'm a Texan...but there was something extra special about watching him. He seemed to dominate, even late in his career, and on any given night, you just had a feeling that history could be made.

Pedro Martinez. 1998 through 2004. Absolutely unhittable 1998 to 2001. Rocket fastball, curve and change up. He was the dominant pitcher in baseball and the fastest pitcher to win 100 games in the history of the Boston Red Sox.

I'm probably way off from everyone else, but Tim Wakefield.
Wakefield is more than just a good pitcher he's a good person who makes it a point to visit sick kids, etc. Ever since I saw a special on him, he's been my favorite. Plus it's fun to watch batters miss the knuckleball by 2 feet on a good day!

Nolan Ryan, I have a lot of memorabilia. I saw Darryl Strawberry go yard on him at Shea stadium he tanked it into the upper deck. I was glad to see him pitch but glad the mets one the game.

Warren Spahn....360+ wins with majority coming after the age of 30+......a "purple heart" recipient....Spahn had the neatest high kick....not over powering but a mixture of different speeds...I believe that he actually holds the record for most home runs by a pitcher....won the World Series for the Braves against "MY" Yankees in 1957 (we got them the following year)....he was a neat pitcher to watch play and carried himself professionally ........WARREN SPAHN GETS MY VOTE!!

Bob Gibson. When I was five years old my dad and grandpa took me to my first major league game. The Pirates were visiting the Cardinals. I don't even remeber who won. All I do remember about that game is that Gibson had a broken leg and he was pitching (and batting) with his leg in an inflatable cast!

Mark "The Bird" Fidrych. When he pitched in Detroit in 1976, every game was exciting and electric. He only had the one great year before he hurt his arm, but in 50 years of being a Tiger fan, I've never seen anything to match him. He was one of a kind.
