That's just it - there is no secret. The key to having high self-esteem is being comfortable with who you are; liking yourself, basically.

That doesn't mean that you have to think that you're a great person, or someone you'd like to be friends with. What it means is that you have to feel good about being you.

And i suppose the key to doing *that* is knowing yourself. Understanding who you are, and what makes you tick. Accepting that you are the person that you are. And, if you find that you don't like certain things about yourself, you've either got to change them or come to terms with them and accept them as part of you.

being confident in whatever you do and ignoring the people that take away your self esteem try and bring you down in your confidence level.they just have some kind of problem havent figured out what yet but who cares its there problem!

Knowing who you are and your good points in all honesty. I don't mean false pride; but really knowing what you are good at and what your virtues are in an even way; with no arrogance.
