Dry cleaning is done with a solvent such as perchroethylene (sp), hydrocarbon, petroleum or CO2. Dry cleaning means no water and are cleaned and dried in the same machine. Most dry cleaners are Perc cleaners which is an excellent grease cutter and oily stain remover. Most dry cleaners are also wet cleaners using water with detergents, softeners and sizing to bring a like-new feel.

LOL!! I've asked myself the same question. I think they spray it with some chemicals or use heat to clean it. To tell you the truth, I have no idea! Great question though :)

It's akin to washing them in lighter fluid. It just dries a LOT faster than water would allow.

If you live in a large city you may have a "solvent free" option.
More enviromentally friendly. Check your yellowpages. If there is one it will no doubt be mentioned in their ad.
