I find so many people who are offended or hold some resentment towards people simply because they are of a higher financial calss. Because they make more money. Yet these same people have dreams of winning the lottery and becoming rich themselves. They wish to become the thing they hate. WHY?!

Interesting way to put it. "It's the principle, not the money!" always means it's the money, screw the principle.
Notwithstanding, something about being wealthy does tend toward an elitist mentality that is often not welcome, but this is not universal. The "millionaire next door" can be a valued friend and a very decent person.
I was fortunate enough once to talk with an attorney who owned his own MLM and was one of those who actually made money on it. I wouldn't have had a chance to do so, so I rejected his offer. However, he did use his funds to build several churches in South America.
Not everyone's a hypocrite.

They hate because they don't have it and want it. The problem with this attitude is nothing is ever good enough. They are still not happy once they win the lottery and receive all the material possessions they think they wanted. It's a never ending quest to always have more and be discontent with what they currently have.
