The reason for earth's shape is the same as that for the sun and other planets. It is the heat energy contained within the mass that creates this geometric shape.
Were our planet to be the shape of a cube, and were a great deal of heat energy to be added to the mass, the shape of the cube would become that of a sphere. This concept is directly seen in outer space. Were a cube of Ice to be released within a closed area, and then heated till it became a liquid, the shape of the ice would become that of a sphere.
The work that this kind of energy does is the forming of a gravitational field. In that it requires energy to perform work, and the force of gravity does perform work (hydroelectric), an energy source is required. The concept describing this is, c2 = E/m. This shows that the force of gravity is a product, and is able to change according as these values are altered.

During the 'Bing Bang' of Nebula, the piece of Nebula from which the earth was formed was liquid. When it was splashed into the space, due to surface tension, it attained the spherical shape. After some times, it got solidified as such. Thus the earth is spherical (round) shaped.

If you subscribe to the big bang, the earth was debris in the form of molten rock. Like any liquid suspended in zero gravity, the surface tension causes it to form a sphere. Now, the Earth isn't perfectly round since there were other forces acting on the earth as it cooled.

this is an interesting question.even the scientists are working on it .it is the density ,during the time of earth'sformation(that is the time zero)that played an enormous role to bring earth to a more or less a sphere.when the omega value is more than one earth would be an hyperbola.scientists were still puzzled how the value was near one at the zero hour to make earth possibly a spherelike shape.

Planets (...and also stars) form within immense drifting clouds of gas and dust. Every bit of gas and dust generates a tiny gravitational force. In relatively dense regions of the drifting cloud (...called a 'nebula') two or more bits of gas or dust may be close enough so that they're attracted to each other by their gravity. They clump together, which increases their overall gravity. This larger clump is surrounded by more bits and pieces which are drawn in from all directions. The original clump grows in size and produces more gravity, which in turn pulls in even more material from all directions. The result is a growing sphere.

Because a sphere is the most compact form for matter to be in. When a planetoid reaches a critical mass, it has to revert to the most compact form. Anything smaller, such as asteroids, don't have to assume this shape.

Because when Terry Gilliam was animating the introduction for Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life", he showed God contemplating the cubic and spherical form of Earth... the rest is history, lol!

well our earth is ellipse but the shape of the world also just see around.Because the scientist have been overcome with mountion and the sea to make like around.Besides at the space all the orbit is in ellipse shape.

some squares are rectangles? actual-- and something of them also are. some skill "a minimum of one million" and has a tendency to intend better than one, yet having one black swan signifies that some swans are black. even even if all squares are rectangles that does no longer mean you CANT say that "some" of them are, or perhaps if that is purposely deceptive that is logically valid.

all the planets in our solar system had a rounded shape maybe because they are planets but if they are stars then their shape will not be round but pentagon see all those stars being place in your chritsmas trees
