My ex's wife was married in the phillipines and she supposedly moved here from there and supposedly her parents are or were missionaries from there. And I would like to know more about her and her family. As long as my kids go to thier house I feel I have the right to know what kid of people are there. She has four kids from her marriage in the phillipines and also know that her parents seem to have lots of money and she was abused in the marriage there and her ex supposedly tried to kill her and so on. Anyone have any resources or links etc that I can get a hold of to research her and that are free or very low cost? Also think that there may be a insurance scam and support scam going on with my ex and his wife being involved.

Lots of "supposedly's" aren't there?
If you think there is an insurance scam then contact your State's insurance commissioner's office (better have some kind of proof first - that doesn't consist of say so's).
Hire a PI dude. Maybe an x-FBI or Secret Service or DSS agent if you're going to have to go overseas. Good luck.
Hope you make better choices next time.
