Subnet mask for this IP is 255.255.255.0

you can't tell what a subnet mask is just from an ip address. you can tell the network mask, the natural mask of the address - 255.255.0.0 in this case. typically a host will apply it's recieving interface address mask to an incoming address (some routing protocols being the exception).

if you're trying to apply a subnet mask then 255.255.255.128 would split the address space.
