Stephen King's "The Body"
A quote from "The Body" by Stephen King (found in Different Seasons):
"The most important things are the hardest things to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them - words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while you were saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for want of an understanding ear."

I've never been a Stephen King fan. Always thought his books were long winded. But try reading one of his short stories "Survivor Type" it was great!

The Dark Tower series is brilliant. If you like that sort of LOTR style story.
Other than that I enjoyed IT and Misery immensely. Salem's lot is also very good.
But I'd start with the Dark Tower books - they'll keep you occupied for months.

I love King's books, but the last few he wrote before he announced he was retiring were pretty bad. His newest though, "Cell", is great! I think he just needed a year off to re-charge his creative batteries. My favorite King book of all time, is "The Stand".

Love em.
I've read about 10 of them.
May I suggest Bag of Bones. Its been a while since I read it, but I do remember it drawing me into the book. It felt like I was "IN" the story. I remember one time having to set it down and draw a deep breath and just going WHOA. It sucks you in.

I love his books! Books seem to draw me in more than movies because of my imagination. Your mind can conjure up images that a picture just can't do. If you lose interest because of the length of his books, try the books of short stories. Quick yet satisfying. Enjoy!!
