Yes. I was on my way to work one night and I thought it was odd how bright the sky ahead of me was. When I drove about a mile down the road I had to pull over and stick my head out the car window. They were dancing in the sky in colors of green, blue, silver and different shades of colors. I watched one swirling around then it would disappear until it came again in a different color. There were lots of them. I've seen the Northern Lights (aka Aurora Borealis) before but not like that. It was beautiful. It was like they were getting closer to the car. Then I thought of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, freaked myself out, and went to work, late.

Yeah, here in Interior Alaska I see them a lot in the winter, but they're usually not out until between 11 pm and 2 am. Sometimes I'm driving home late at night and have to pull over since I've almost driven off the road watching them dance across the sky.

It brought your sense of tininess out of your body. Images and photo of the Northern Lights are inspirational, but you should see them with your real eyes. You will feel as if time is coming to a stop :).

I WAS FLYING ONCE FROM ALASKA TO JAPAN. IT WAS EARLY NOVEMBER. I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS. SO WHEN OUR PLANE CLIMBED UP ABOVE THE CLOUDS I LOOKED OUT MY WINDOW ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE PLANE, AND SAW THE MOST BEAUTIFUL NATURAL PHENOMENA I EVER COULD HAVE SEEN. I COULD SEE THE LIGHTS AS A COMPLETE RING AROUND THE TOP OF THE EARTH! THE COLORS WERE SO VIBRANT THAT THEY LOOKED ALIVE. IT IS INDESCRIBABLE, BUT THAT IS THE BEST WAY I KNOW TO SAY IT.

I have, and they're beautiful. It feels like something is talking to you, not physically, but it's just this moment where you stop to watch and it's quiet and dark, and there's this huge beautiful form dancing and shifting and changing colours. It's amazing!

Never heard of this whistling thing. Is that true?

I actually saw them once here in Missouri, last year I believe - it was a freak thing that happened, and they were gorgeous even as dim as they were here - I got a chill watching them. I want to someday go to see them in all their glory as I heard there is nothing like it.

the only time I have seen them was a few years ago when sunspot activity and solar flares were realy active, I lived in southern Oregon at that time, and they were visible there and even farther south, it was pretty cool, the whole sky was a weird pink.

I din FT.Irwin California in the Mojave desert. It was beautiful. It transitions from color to color much slower than you see on TV.I suppose they speed it up 100 times faster for the effect.
