in 1984 I forged my uncles name on a few of his checks. I think the total was about $1,000.00
I think it was a felony

Problem is a felony cannot be expunged from your record. That is why they say a felony stays with you for life.

It is a felony but if no one files a complaint against you there is no case. Moreso, the supposed offense you committed was way back in 1984 and the crime already prescribed.

You went to court, how come you don't know if it is a felony or not?

Depending on state statute you may motion the court for an expongement. It is not determined on time limit, but more so your criminal history and local laws.
