In women, the few days near ovulation constitute the fertile phase. Usually three days before and three days after ovulation are the fertile days. The average time of ovulation is the fourteenth day of an average length (twenty-eight day) menstrual cycle. It is normal and common for the day of ovulation to vary from the average, however.

The length of the cycle length is not a reliable indicator of the day of ovulation. The post-ovulatory phase of the cycle may vary by up to a week between women.

So now we have a three day window of fertility after ovulation and a week's variance after ovulation and Whoa! You CAN get pregnant up to four days before your monthly. Scary. That can happen in up to 30% of women.

Science goes by the norm or what is usual in the majority of the female population, but every woman is different. That is why it is good to do basal temperature plotting of the cycle. The female runs a low-grade fever generally a day before through a day after ovulation.

Hope this helps.

No. It is actually rare for women to get pregnant on their period. A lot of women that believe that they are having their period and then get pregnant are actually experiencing bleeding/spotting with ovulation. Ovulation takes place 2 weeks before your period starts, but if a woman has an irregular period she can become pregnant at any time. And the woman below me is totally wrong. a girl can get pregnant if she has sex 2 weeks before her first period. This is also something I learned in Health class.

In order for you to get pregnant your ovaries have to release an egg, this is called ovulation. When the egg is not fertilized by the sperm, your body then releases the lining of your uterus, along with the egg, and that is what you know as your period.

You have to have had it before. But not be on it. A woman ovulates I believe every 28 days or 7 days after the first day of your menstral cycle.

For this reason, it is possible to get PG w/o ever having started your periods!

God for you! Save yourself for your husband! It will be SOOOO worth it!
