emo means, well, emotional. i've been called that many times before. (where do you think emolicious came from?) i have the long bangs and listen to the music. i mean, just look at pete wentz, the lead singer of fall out boy. that's emotional right there. it's sort of punk. but it's a shame how they call panic! at the disco "emo" because it's more "punk-pop" i mean, brendon urie doesn't wear skinny jeans, dark hoodies, black converse and black eyeliner. the band's from vegas, they have more class than that. panic! at the disco and fall out boy rock!!!!!!

I was emo but i still think about death etc. I'm a Punk Rocker now tho. I gained the nickname PRG. BTW I was in the wrist cutting thing how do people enjoy that it's hard to believe I did. Well anyways...emo is the emotional side of Punk and is a type of music and people like that hardly do anything so that's why i stopped altho it's hard.

P.S. Whatever your doing to be emo your doing it rite I never understood myself and what i was doing.

So far as I know, it's short for "emotional". Seems it is used in reference (as a negative) to people that contemplate the whole meaning of life and feel the desire to dress in dark/drab colors because their contemplations have led them to feel the world is doomed.

amanda duh is correct...emo stands for Emotional Hardcore, a genre of music. But the media has given it another definition too. Kind of a life style I guess you could call it: hair in face, listening to MCR, tight pants, myspace obsessed, and whiney.....if that's what you are then, hey. I guess your "emo"
