I get a pop-up saying some components have not been properly installed. Restart computer to fix this. It does't fix it. Any suggestions? Is there a free removal download for this on the web? Any help greatly appreciated!

You have tried to remove it using Add/Remove Programs, right? Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs

Well, you can reinstall it again just so you can uninstall it. Or you can delete all the mcafee directories on the system, use a startup manager and or hijackthis! to remove all the startup entries, and then use CCleaner or similar to remove the registry entries. Actually the advanced tools in Spybot S&D can be quite helpful for cleaning the registry and startup.

A registry cleaner program might address this but if you did not go through the add and removal program then you have no choice but to reload it into exact same drive file and then remove it again using the add and remove program and it will clean out your computers registry. Hope this helped.

you would possibly want to be able to eliminate it by going to the administration Panel contained in the start menu. even as the administration panel comes up, click on upload or eliminate courses. even as this record comes up, locate McAfee on the record, severe lite it, then click the position it says change/eliminate, yet on the top that announces eliminate. stick with the teachings, and do not enable it communicate you out of eliminating it. That device is extremely aggressive, so purely plow ahead. i take advantage of AVG free version 7.5, and Spybot search for and wreck for anti secret agent ware. they're both free, and artwork o.k..

Try these steps

Start >> run
type "msconfig"
click on start up tab.
disable all McAfee entites. Click Ok
Restart the system

load any other anti-virus software. and scan the system. you will get the McAfee files. delete all those.
if you didn't get any files manually delete all the files from the "program files" folder.

I read another question in yahoo answer, and maybe you can try the answer from "kevin j" : boot to safe mode, add and remove, uninstall. But before you try that, besure to reinstall the McAfee before you try "kevin j answer " (the another yahoo answer user)

sorry if my English not well.

Go to controls, go to add/remove, seek out McAfee and on your right hand side there is a place you push to remove and waaa-laaa! Pooof!* its gone.
