Which car is going to be the least to insure? What is going to cost the most in the long run? What is going to look good on an 18 year old male? Whats going to last the longest? Cadillac CTS, Toyota Camry, Mazda 3, Saab 9-3, VW Jetta or Scion TC?

Call your insurance agent and find out. Don't ask people to guess.

- Cadillac looks nice on the outside, inside is eh, reliability is eh.

- Camry looks ok (new ones look great), inside is good, reliability - IT'S A TOYOTA!

- Mazda 3 looks sporty (esp. if you got a 2.3 hatchback 5sp), inside is good, reliability is pretty good.

- Saab 9-3 looks sporty too, inside is good (esp. upper trim level, although it's like that for any of the other cars too really), reliability...well, I personally wouldn't want one for fear of repair.

- VW Jetta - honestly all I'm gonna say is I always felt it was a chick's car. Oh, and I wouldn't get a VW - they're notorious for electrical problems.

- Scion TC looks sporty (although it is kind of heavy), inside is on par with the Mazda, and repair - well they're fairly new, so reliability is hard to say, but since Toyota is the parent company, I'd say it'd be pretty good.

Now in answer to your questions:

Insurance - it really would vary, but remember that the cheaper it is to repair a car and the less sporty it is (according to the insurance industry) the cheaper insurance would be. Your best bet in that catergory would probably be a 4 door Camry or Mazda 3.

Mostly costly in long run - I'd say probably the Caddy or Saab (cost at time of purchase + repair/reliabiltiy). If you factor in insurance the Saab would probably be a bit more than the CTS.

Look good on an 18 year old male - Either the Mazda 3 hatchback, the Scion TC, or the Saab.

Last longest/reliability - I'd say the Camry, closely followed by the Scion and the Mazda 3.

Here's a good website to research info on cars (ratings, specs, market values, etc) www.edmunds.com Click on "Used Cars" then "Research Prices and Specs" and then select the vehicle you want info on. One thing you do want to take into consideration also, probably, would be resale value of the car. The Toyota would probably win that catergory, and if you are looking for a sporty Camry, look at the Camry Solara, but beware as it is a 2 door and therefore would be more on insurance. Also if you do like a model, but are afraid of insurance, just be sure to get the car with the non-turbo engine - cars with turbo-charged engines run A LOT, especially for 18 year old males - but remember if you get the car in a stick it will have more pep than the same engine with an automatic tranny. Good luck!

For an 18 year old, your best bets are the Camry, Scion or the Mazda. They are safe, reliable, look good, test well with Consumer Reports and are relatively good on gas. I personally would recommend either the Camry or Scion. Scion is also made by Toyota. They generally will run almost forever if you take reasonably good care of them.

The VW's have had a horrible track record recently and the Saab and Cadillacs are a bit over-priced. Insurance on a new car for an 18 year old is going to be high even with a completely clean driving record.

Cadillac is going to be expensive to insure and own
Camry is probably going to be the least to insure and to own(and plus they look pretty good to)
Mazda 3 is still to expensive for what it is
Saab is an expensive GM with the same problems
Jetta is going to stop running at 75k miles(usually electrical problems)
Scion TC is also very nice, don't know on insurance but I know you can buy a new one for aroun 17k.

I have no idea on insurance as it really depends on the area you live in and your age too.

And each insurer has their own table of data .... one company a honda could be cheaper than the other one but yet a Ford in that one could be cheaper than this one.

Confusing..... anyway try Progressive insurance on line and see if they do give you a good quote like they say they do on TV as they check against other insurers to.

The only cars I keep hearing about in regards to excellent reliability is the Honda Accord or Civic and Toyota Camry......

Literally good Japanese brands.

For reliabilty stay away from American cars.
German?!?! check out where they are made. heard cars made in Europe are better than those in America or Mexico. As is the case for Mercedes and BMW.

The scion it is economical rather than cheaper in insurance. But the Scion has a safer rate and has less parts to damge. Dont forget fuel economy. Although the cts is a sweet ride.

A good car has to be popular so the parts are easy to get. Small so it won't use much gas, Manufactured by a company with an outstanding share of the market, And cheap so you won't pay much for insurance, from the choices you mention: Toyota Camry is the winner in my opinion. I love my Sirus, I'm saving so much in gas!!!! this car actually will pay by itself!

Ferrari!

J/K for insurance purposes, go with the Jetta, in any color but red.

Insurance rates are statistically calculated, fancy red cars with more horsepower have more accidents and therefore higher rates. The Jetta is a mainstream, safe choice. Might not be the best choice for performance and reliability reasons but for insurance purposes...

in my opinion and with facts hondas are the best even older years but if it must be one of the those then id go with a TC cause they are fast as hell or toyotas run for like 300000 miles where as hondas go for up to and over 400000 miles and for an 18 yr old male women like me love fast fixed up hondas or acuras(made by honda) and even the older ones like a 96-98 are very reliable and cheaper then getting brand new car so that way you can fix it up the way you like cars with the extra you save from not buying a new caddy or jetta and never buy the year your in car cause the recalls and defects arent public yet so you and the dealers dont know whats going to go wrong until it does where as a little older car the defects and recalls are posted publicly so you can compare which would be best. check it out and compare your choices......
