No offense meant, but so are many people, looking for the same,,,smiles.
I suggest inexpensive may not happen but certainly beautiful can.
Anywhere in the Smokeys, in NC. I enjoy anything in a 35 mile radius of Ashville... In fact I used to rent a cabin in Celo, NC. At the time it had a poulation of 10, not 10,000, and Mt. Celo was omnipresent from any vantage point. At 6500 ft. plus it's a pretty decent mountain for the Eastern US. Charleston in SC is not so far from mountains, and near beaches. I found it a very inviting area.
In GA, I'd choose "Helen", or surrounding towns/areas. Kinda NW GA...
You might also check out TENN. while you're at it.
I personally wouldn't "settle" in Alabama,,,no offense meant, but if I was to, I'd have to be on the Gulf, as opposed to Northern Ala.

I am doing the same relocation research, concentrating on NE Tenn. Asheville area is excellent but real estate prices are climbing. Smaller towns 20-30 miles away might be more affordable. Many retirees like Hendersonville NC. A co-worker recommends Murphy NC. If you decide to explore Tenn., you might check out Jonesboro, Greeneville, Gray or Johnson City. Good luck.

In South Carolina try Florence or smaller towns around there.
In North Carolina Try Belmont, Gastonia, Bessemer City,
Dallas, Greensboro, Concord, Mt. Holly.
In Georgia try Savanna, Lavonia and towns surrounding Hartwell Lake. (used to water ski there)

Amarillo, Texas is a delightful, mid sized city. city is properly watered, regardless of the very undeniable actuality that the encompassing nation-state is dry. human beings there are pleasant, site visitors strikes properly. The community gives you subculture, all mandatory procuring, solid healthcare, and a life like value of residing. no longer precisely TN, NC, or WA, yet provide it a glance. you'd be pleasantly stunned! (I easily have spent a even as in TN, in rural parts, and placed the persons to be very closed to outsiders, making it an low-value, yet lonely, position to stay. won't be able to communicate to WA or NC from own adventure...) Small city existence (inhabitants less than 1500) must be low-value, yet do no longer overlook that you're going to continuously be a newcomer, and this can properly be hard. once you've under no circumstances lived in a real small city, make certain that is what you truly choose. yet another selection you may evaluate is to live on a farm. In my own adventure, the townfolk manage newcomer farmers with somewhat extra appreciate than they do those who must be "townies". save in options your position organization ought to conflict through in rural communities by way of undesirable internet get entry to and absence of interior of sight shoppers. appreciate your quest!
