Oh no no no no no! There is but ONE Johnny Cash. He is a legend, an icon and only he can sing his songs the very best. Kudos to Joaquin for his performance, as he studied long, hard hours to imitate someone even he looks up too and admires. And, he is easy on the eyes. But legend status? Not for singing Johnny's songs!

I admit that i'm not a fan of johnny cash. I only saw the movie because Reece Witherspoon was in it. I think Joaquin did the songs terrificly, but it kinda bugs me the way he sings.

I just think that watching Joaquin Phoenix is better than watching Johnny Cash....... *siiiiiiigh* what a hunk! lol
his singing is amazing, too.... not sure if it's better or worse than johnny's, but it seems more modern, somehow.

i think joaquin did better than johnny cash. i love johnny cash, but joaquin did an extrememly good job.

Considering he's singing Johnny Cash songs, I'd say no.
Can he sing and sing well? Absolutely! I loved his voice.

phoenix did an incredible job performing johnny's songs, but i am not prepared to say he did them better! cash was/is an amazing, iconic performer.
