I'm a fully qualified engineer at present employed by a US company here in england. I've always dreamed of the promised land and would love to at least give it my best shot. Before i'm too old and frail to try. I'v been employed in engineering related industries all my working life, my present employer is a major aerospace manufacturer. Although i'm open to other engineering avenues. I've no idea what so ever how to go about seeking employment in the US or what visas/ paperwork are required any and all assistance is gratefully received.

Your best bet will be if you can secure employment in the US and have the employer help with getting a work visa. In your profession, it should not be too difficult.

You might look into some of the online jobsites like monster.com

I will give you this advice...stay away from Michigan. The enchanted mitten is not so enchanted and has a very crappy economy. As far as finding employment....try an employement site like monster.com. Employers post jobs there and you can also post your resume. I don't know about the paperwork and visa end of things but I am sure if you put the topic into a search engine you could find what you need. Good luck! I personally prefer England. It is so beautiful there and full of history.

how about Northrop Grumman at www.grumman.com
they are a good company to work for- my dad worked for them & i think they have good benefits (retirement, health insurance, etc.) My uncle is a retired NASA engineer, maybe you could try them also -www.nasa.gov
both websites have a career search, which shows what positions are available and where they are located. Or you could just wait til you get here to look when you get settled. for your question about the visa required, and any other questions that pop up, try www.google.com and type in your question or part of a question like "requirements for working in the USA" There should be a place there that you could go to to get the basic info. Best wishes

All you need really is an american company to sponsor you. Then you would receive a work visa and once here in the states, you could check hotjobs.com or monster.com and search for your related field. I would also check with ins.gov and see what they require from you. Luckily, you are already working for an american company who might sponsor you. Good luck!!!
