I updated the BIOS on my computer, and after it completes, the computer reboots, yet it shuts off right after it displays the amount of RAM in the PC. Does it do this because I updated the wrong BIOS version?

Yes, unfortunately, despite other's advice to the contrary, updating the BIOS is a risky business. If you flashed you BIOS with the wrong firmware, your Computer is now officially a paperweight. I'll check in about 3 minutes from now to see if I find any different, but I'm pretty sure that you have almost NO options.

UPDATE:

I found this, but I don't know how much it will help:

More than likely not as most BIOS upgrades have fail-safe programs to prevent wrong BIOS from being installed. Is it possible to update the wrong BIOS using a fail-safe type BIOS? Yes but that is called forcing a BIOS and I am sure that is not what you were doing and you got to jump through hoops to do it. Anyway your question requires a back and forth response but I will try my best. First go in and set your BIOS setting in your motherboard to ground. To insure your BIOS resets either turn off your power supply or unplug it and now remove your battery. You want your new BIOS update to start right from the beginning and find all your components. Try this first and see if it gets you fixed. Good Luck.

NV-RAM (none volatile RAM) \CMOS stores the data from the BIOS and its the BIOS that runs the computer in the first place. i read this in the book I got from AVTEC in Alaska and you have just killed the mother board basically.
