This is an unusual question I have. Don't think I am weird because I am not trying to be.

A person born with a bright purple birth mark covered 3/4 of his whole face. Even with the purple color mark covering a majority of his face, will that person be accepted a normal person and treated with respect in our society/real-world? Will that person still be successful in finding jobs after an interview?

Your opinion?

Weather it's conscious or not it is going to effect them. As an example. People don't think about it but on average a man will make an extra grand a year for every inch of height he is above average. It's not a conscious choice that the interviewer makes but subconsciously the height is viewed as strength.

Consequently a large birthmark is going to effect the interviewers choice on a subconscious level as well. They are going to seem "different" and outside of the team dynamic. Not to mention if you have a gigantic birth mark there is a pretty good chance that you're going to be a little insecure, and you're not going to come off as confident as someone a little more normal.

The bottom line is, yes it will effect them. It's going to be very tough. Especially in any possition that requires interaction with other people. An interviewer wants someone who is going to appear strong in the eyes of clients and customers as well. So even if the interviewer doesn't have a problem with it, they have to be aware that others will. And they will react accordingly in the best interest of the company.

Should it happen? No of course not, but it will.

As much as I disagree with it, sadly enough the answer I would say is no. People put way to much emphasis on appearances. That is why plastic surgery is as popular and wide spread as it is, and people drop thousands of dollars on designer high end clothing and thousands more on expensive high end cars. Interviewers of course will put an emphasis on it without saying it, as they do with aging and other defects. This is the real world and it is mean and cruel and anyone who said yes to this answer must not be in touch with the real world. Lets face it as wrong as it is, this is a vain society. Sorry

well, sad to say, but yes appearance does count for a lot in terms of 1st impressions. that person w/ the birthmark is going to go thru a LOT in his life before he starts interviewing for jobs. what he has to remember that 1st impressions can be changed, and that he is a normal person like everyone else. that is key to when he grows up, and goes on interviews. he has to be intelligent, hard working, sociable, capable and eloquent enough to change people's initial negative reactions against him. our society is built on appearance sometimes; we have compassion but it does take time. what's also sad is that people who are less aesthetically pleasing usually have to be more, know more, or work harder than someone who is considered "good looking". encourage that person to keep developing his mind and heart, and not to judge others even thru all the judgements he will go thru. the more open minded and loving and smart he is, the easier it will be for others to accept him.

I don't think so it's sad to say it but people who are different in appearance or have disabilities usually aren't accepted as well into society compared to someone who didn't have them sad to say but it's true the world and society haven't changed much from 60 years ago people are still racist and ignorant and society is still screwed up. My opinion the world and society sucks!!!

I don't think that Ur appearance does effect Ur Interview. U might be right Ur first appearance is the last appearance. After all u are going for an Interview and not for dating isn't?. yeah appearance does count Ur attitude.

yes i think he should be of course.. but their is some that if a person does not look good they will think of reasons not to hire them..i have had the same thing did to me and it was not what i looked like they just did not think i could stand up to the customers.. well they will never know unless they tried you.. i admit i am not like the kind of people they usually have in there but what is wrong with a kind, nice sweet girl working in there instead of the whores that work in there..might make business better..there is all kinds of places though he can get a job at..

I sure hope that he would be treated with the same respect as every other person...everyone has feelings; appearance doesn't have anything to do with that!

Well appearances don't matter as much as your personality and attitude does but if the person's a jerk, forget it.
