I'm an American teenager and I love this country like no other because it gives me safety and education! I'd love to travel to foreign countries but I'm afraid they would shun me just because I'm American! Why has the world turned against America? We certainly haven't turned against the rest of the world! Americans hold a lot of respect for foreigners, more than you would think. Why else would we all travel so much?!

1. They're jealous of our quality of life.

2. Our media at home presents our country in a negative light, especially when they give a forum to so-called "Americans" who take great pleasure in badmouthing our country. Sure we have our faults, but I'd rather live here than, say, North Korea, China, some third-world country.

3. I don't believe it's everybody else in the world who hates us; just the one who obey the talking heads on TV.

We Americans are like the Grizzly bear. Ruggedly beautiful, but reckless at times. Powerful to point that we have become uncontrollable. And most Americans are totally ignorant of the problems because over the years we have become very complacent. So much so, that we have begun to ignore the real problems facing the rest of world.

Because we have become too lazy to understand the intricate and delicate situations around the world, we are often too quick to fix things which we don't even understand. This is the reason we end up screwing up whenever we go overseas. So even with good intentions, we end up on the hate list for the rest of the world.

Sometimes, I wonder what would happen if we did nothing and let the world do whatever they wanted to each other, without us!

When we travel to other countries we often refuse to respect their culture and customs. Most Americans refuse to even learn the language and then expect others to speak English to accomidate them.

We start wars, and then don't take responsibility for our actions. We've announced now that we will not be rebuilding Iraq despite the massive destruction that we've caused. We refused to sign the Kyoto Accord to help reduce polution (one of only three countries to refuse to sign it.) We're terrible bullies who use our power to force others into our way of life.

A few years ago when that giant Tsunami hit southeast Asia, yes we collected a ton of money to help rebuild the country... then refused to give them any of it until they agreed to open up their coastal property to investors (Resorts, Hotels, and things like that... look it up).

Due to our behavior in Iraq, we have been charged with war crimes in the international courts. Our great vice president has been charged for illegal business practices in the French Courts. Basically we're just not very nice people.

If you want to travel the world do what all the other smart Americans are doing. Sew a Canadian Flag to your backpack, otherwise you can expect some well deserved anger tossed in your direction.

On a side note, only 30% of Americans own a passport. Only 15% ever leave the country. Compared to 80% of Germans who own a passport and travel frequently.
