I'll try to make this brief:
was on it for 2.5 years and usually spotted after 10 weeks but not every month. I didn't get to the doc on time and missed my shot by 2 weeks. Now I can't get a new shot until I get my cycle (it's been over 3 years)
I wanted to discontinue anyway, because I am getting HUGE.
I am a bit worrird about the 2 weeks I wasn't on it. I did take a pregnancy test at the doctors today, but had sex 2 days ago.
Here are my questions
1 although the doc says it is highly unlikely, do you know anyone who has conceived by missing their shot in that short of time?
2 how long till I spot, Last shot was April 18th (14weeks ago)
3. How long till the weight comes off? With exercise. I don't know if it's a water retention or if it just slows down metabolism?

Weight--I started 6 weeks after giving birth, so I had a few extra pounds but since depo about 25 pounds. And no other significant lifestyle changes. Though not dealing with a monthly cycle was great!

okay well i have a 6 year old daughter that was concieved when i was about 2 weeks late in getting my depo shot. i took the preganancy test at planned parenthood (the urine one), and it came back negative, so they gave me the shot. well i was pregnant at that time, it was just that i wasn't "pregnant enough" (not excreting the pregnancy hormone), for it to show up on the urine test. so yes, my daughter is living proof that you can get pregnant from getting the depo late.
question 2 i can't really answer on a personal level because i didn't spot when i was on the shot.
question 3, well it has been 6 years, and a total of 3 kids later and i still have the weight. altough i don't work at it like i should either. i know that there are some people that lose it right away.
hope this helps. take care and good luck, i would go and pregancy test too, just for peace of mind.

when I was on depo my body thought it was pregnant and I had morning sickness and heartburn for the time I was on it 2 cycles and for 6 months after that. It took me about 6 more months to loose the weight. I was told the shot takes 6-9 months even longer to wear off, but everyone is different. as for possible pregnanct get Plan B (you have 24 hours or it won't work) or take 4 birth control pills at one time if you have them (Lo-Ovral if possible) then take 4 more 12 hours later. If you get sick within 3 hours of taking the 1st 4 start all over and take 4 more pills then 4 more 12 hours later

I was once on the shot for 2 years and was once informed i couldn't take it anymore as a result of it explanations osteoporosis and 2 years is the limit. It took me about 9 months to get pregnant after that. I learn that it'll take up to a year to get pregnant after taking the dept shot when you consider that it will take that long for a girl to ovulating again.

Hey, genius. In the question I posed regarding kicking puppies? You happened to misspell "avatar". Just because you're anonymous on here doesn't excuse you spelling like an idiot.
Plus, why don't I "deserve" a Braveheart avatar? Know what it's about? No? Good, that's what I thought. Also, you speak like I earned it somehow. I just plucked it off the internet since it's the best film of all time.

It took me approximately nine months to get pregnant after that. I learn that it is going to take as much as a yr to get pregnant after taking the department shot given that it is going to take that lengthy for a girl to begin ovulating once more.

i've been on the depo shot since 2001 or so. i dont even spot anymore, which is really nice, cause my menstral cycle sometimes came as late as once every 3 months. since i wasnt sexually active, and i also knew i probably wasnt the virgin mary, i wasnt worried about getting pregnant, but i still got horrible cramps about once every 3 or 4 times my cycle did come around. it was awful. the same morning of the first day of my cycle, i was always sick and could never keep what i ate in my stomach. so i was very happy to get rid of my cycle altogether.
1. i dont personaly know anyone who got pregnant 2 weeks after missing their window time for their shot. (the window period is the time you can get another shot, to early, and you risk overdosing, to late, and you risk having the affect ware off, or so they say.) but personally, i dont think having sex just 2 weeks after missing your last window date will get you pregant. if you do get pregnant, there is a chance your child will be severly deformed if it survives at all. i'd give it at least 2 months missing your window date and being off the shot before there'd even be a realistic chance of you being able to get pregnant.
2. it varys with everyone. some women will notice spotting 2 or 3 months after the last window date, some wont see a menstral cycle for several years. i've even heard of some older women never even getting it back.
3. the shot tricks your body into being pregnant. its not water retention, or metabolism, your body thought it was pregnant, so it was collecting all the extra nutrients it could from the food you ate, and it had nowhere else to store it, except to store it as fat.
my sister-in-law had the shot once, and found she got her period, and her period wouldent stop, even after about 20 days. she went to a doctor after she realized this wasnt working for her. some people's bodies cannot handle the shot. its just something some people's bodies dont like about being tricked into thinking its pregnant. with a good exersize, keeping your heart rate up at least 160 beats per minute, for about a half an hour every day (bicycleing is great), you'll loose the weight very quickly, as long as you are eating smart. pay attention to how much you eat, and what you eat. when trying to loose weight, you should be trying to eat 2 to 3 servings every meal. a serving is about a handfull. if you feel hungry only eating 2 to 3 handfulls of food (like 2 servings of salad, and one serving of choped chicken) then you can up your servings to 3 or 4 servings, until you dont feel as hungry after a meal, and step down from there, until you are eating 2 to 3 servings every meal. also, pay attention to what you eat. look at the nutrition facts. what do you notice you eat alot of? if your diet seems pretty balanced, your probably already on the right track! if you notice you eat alot of sugar, or fat, try to cut the grams you intake of that single nutrient in half. keep it like that for at least a month, and keep doing your regular exersize schedule. i'm sure you'll be very happy with these results. not late night snacks, at least for the first month, try not to eat right before you go to bed, and dont skip breakfast. breakfast gives your metabolism a jump start, and you're only asking for it to slow down when you skip breakfast. you probably knew at least half this stuff already if not all of it, but it might help other people in the same situation. good luck! i'm sure you'll be happy!
