After reading this article http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060720/us_nm/rights_gays_dc I've come to the conclusion that a few overly protective people are making a scene, and the right wing extremists are blowing it way out of proportions. How many straights have been killed out of hatred? What? None? Well, I know several gays that have been killed. How many people have been attacked? Oh, a woman was attacked? Well, did you know that she was egging on her attacker by calling him a "f a g" and a "homo" and telling him that he would burn in hell? Well, no they like to leave that part out of the news. While there have been countless gays attacked, not for insulting straights or telling them that they were going to hell, but for looking at a straight person in the wrong way, or kissing their partner in public. When it comes down to it who's more angry gays or homophobes?

P town is short for Provincetown, which is located at the very tip of Cape Cod, Mass. A wonderful artistic community, known for its restaurants, sand dunes, art shops, night clubs, and year-round activities. Also, it just happens to be a predominant gay community, big deal!
And, no, I don't believe for one moment that the gays over there are espousing any hatred toward heterosexual community. That is plain ridiculous.
Even the permanent residents of Provincetown, gay or straight, are subjected to the laws, and they are all law abiding citizens. They do not need this anti-heterosexual stigma. The commerce of Cape Cod for most part, and indeed that of P-town, is dependent on the tourist business. So they will not allow something as ridiculous as "heterosexual hatred" to breed in this amusing little place called, "P-town." Perish the thought!

Geez, I haven't been to P-town in a year, but I never saw it.
What I did see in P-town that is disturbing is that wealthy New Englanders are buying up some of the housing that was once weekly and weekend rentals for tourists (mostly gay) for themselves, and then only visiting the property a few weekends a year. Because land is limited, housing is limited, and this trend has lessened the total number of tourists, and hurt the gay oriented tourist businesses.

Every group, every community, has people that DO NOT behave properly. In short, jerks exist everywhere.
That said....
If you observe, you will find that people often react with hostility when they are part of a group that is limited or oppressed. This is the same behavior that we see with ethnic groups that hate the dominant white culture. It is NOT right, but it does seem to be a consistent human behavior.
Over the course of time, this type of behavior will disappear (mostly) as gay families get the same rights as straight families.

First of all, yeah, it's pretty stupid and hypocritical. Second of all, how about NEVER refer to "you guys", or blame me for the behavior of other gay people again, ok? Thirdly, while it is bad, and stupid, it is also NOT the same thing as the exact opposite. If there were roving gangs of gay people singling out straight people and beating them up and killing them, then it would start to be closer to the same thing. When some guy walks up to me and says "fag", I need to start to wonder if he's the one that's going to try to kill me. Not because I'm paranoid, but because there is a long history of gay folks being killed for being gay, and it's still happening. You don't have that history, nor the current situation for that to be true; you just have some angry queen calling you "breeder". Sorry if it hurts your feelings. It's stupid, but...get over it.

I don't understand why the people down there are doing that. It's just plain disrespectful. Also the list on that website, telling people who signed the petition to ban gay marriage is just wrong. It's giving the activist gay person a virtual hit list. I mean, sure I'd like to know if my boss is against rights, but come one people, this isn't right.

This again is a case of mis information. This has only hit the press so the government can justify it's anti-gay legislation. People who are stupid and ignorant enough to only believe what they want to believe, may as well become a politician!

Well, looks like if you read the majority of your answers you'll see that you've made a fool of yourself once again for trying to get the gay community riled up with your ridiculous questions. Once again, give it a rest.

a few gays go berzerker (if they did) and it's "you gay guys"??
Just because Fred Kansas is a loudmouth hater doesn't make all straight guys loudmouth haters.
Talk about your torrential flood of illogic. Of course you're just joking, right.
On the other hand, if a friend of mine gets seriously hurt ... I'm not making any promises. I'm sure you feel the same about your friends.
