ok, i was just wondering if any of you (homosexuals) think that the bible says nothing about homosexuality being wrong?

i'm not trying to put anyone down or hurt or be insulting, but the bible in fact does say in Passage 1 Corinthians 6: Verse 9:

"Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled): neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality"

sure, the bible never says anything about how being gay is wrong, but engaging in homosexual acts is clearly wrong according to this

i'm sorry to say this, but i hate to see the bible be misunderstood

who knows? maybe God did make gay people how they are as a test to see if they could abstain from homosexual acts

please no rude comments. i was a nice as possible while still giving out my point.

Most homosexuals do not understand what God is really saying. All they hear is hate, condemnation, and bitter words against them. They only seeklove with someone who feels inside as they do. If you know someone like this, please pray for them, and don't broadcast your alms before men. Secretly pray for God to have His way in their life, that is the only true way to do.

1 Corinthians 6: Verse 9:

Know ye not that the unrightous shall not inherit the kingdom of god? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers nor EFFEMINATE, nor extortioners, shall inherit the earth.

I don't know what translation you're using. I've read three of them and I don't remember ever seeing the actual word Homosexuals, you must be using some modern translation that decided to put in their own words. Homosexuality is a contemporary word and wasn't around back in those days (notice how it sounds a little science like?). I always love that, when some guy decides that he knows gods words better than the prophet.

Effeminate doesn't exactly mean gay, it means either woman like, or weakness and having excessive refinement. ie flaunting your wealth.

The usual line quoted by all you christians spreading hate is in Leviticus 20: verse 13 (even though you said the bible never said anything about homosexuality being wrong, and I'm sort of helping you out here)

If a man also lie with mankind as he lieth with a woman, both of them have commited an abomination: They shall surely be put to death; their blood shal be upon them.

However, lets also remember that Leviticus also tells us that a woman who is menstrating is unclean and must be seperated from everyone else for seven days, Oh yeah, and you can't trim your beard and anyone with a birth mark isn't allowed to be a priest.... do you think maybe your little book is a touch outmoded? Do you ever shave your beard?

Oh, and for the record I'm completely straight. I'm just tired of Hipocracy and Christians being far from Christ like. Thou Shalt not Judge!.... it's not your place so leave everyone else alone. If God exists he'll judge us when he's good and ready.

well, I think that your question is weather or not I (as a gay person) think that the Bible says weather or not homosexuality is a sin. That depends on which translation and what your interpretation of the Bible is. The passage that you mention, when read in the original translation, doesn't mention homosexuals, but rather the word "Sodomite'. While this word has come to mean homosexual in our modern English, it actually refers to a citizen of the town Sodom. The sins of Sodom are listed elsewhere in the Bible, and not a single one of them is homosexuality.

However, I will also say that it does mention homosexuality elsewhere in the Bible. The original Hebrew translation is something like "Mankind should not lye with mankind as he would with womankind, this is an abomination and they shall both die with their blood upon them." or something very close to that. While this is almost undoubtedly a claim of homosexuality being a sin, there are several other "sins" in the same book of the Bible that are referred to in the same manner. The majority of Christians ignore the other sins and focus on this one. The fact is that yes, Homosexuality is a sin as written in the Bible. However, I don't think that this one sin should be singled out over other sins. We are all sinners, based on the Bible. We can't escape that. Gay Christians are no more or less sinners than any other Christian.

The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9).

Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When a person continues in sin and disbelief, the Bible tells us that God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God.

God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that a person becomes a homosexual because of sin (Romans 1:24-27), and ultimately because of their own choice.

A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger / rage, does that make it right for then to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true for homosexuality.

However, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God.

Homosexuality is just one of the many things listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that will keep a person from the kingdom of God. According to the Bible, God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

No insult intended here, but how do you know what the bible says? Are you an expert in Koine - the popular or common Greek (as opposed to Attic the literary Greek) that most of the New Testament and Paul's letters were originally written in? My guess is that you have read your bible in English in some version of the King James' translation made over 350 years ago by English scholars with a very limited knowledge of Greek, Hebrew, other biblical languages or the historical background of Paul's time. Many scholars debate whether in Corinthians Paul was talking about what we in the 21st century would call "homosexual behavior," or whether the language indicates that he was attacking some practices specific to his time (although not unknown to ours) which is boy prostitution and abuse. Here is just ONE modern translation, from the "New American Bible":

Corinthians 9:6 Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor sodomites
*note - [9] The Greek word translated as boy prostitutes may refer to catamites, i.e., boys or young men who were kept for purposes of prostitution, a practice not uncommon in the Greco-Roman world. In Greek mythology this was the function of Ganymede, the "cupbearer of the gods," whose Latin name was Catamitus. The term translated Sodomites refers to adult males who indulged in homosexual practices with such boys. See similar condemnations of such practices in Romans 1:26-27; 1 Tim 1:10.
So according to this translation, Paul is condemning the practice of buying and using teenage boys for sex and not "heroic" male/male couplings like David and Jonathon, Achilles and Patrocules. And there are many other translations/interpretations. So again I ask you, how is your Greek? Are you able to read your bible directly? or are you basing your personal prejudice on a translation made by English professors 350 years ago? One more question. The New Testament "quotes" against homosexuality are all from Paul - who never met Jesus when he was preaching. Since you are the expert, please tell me what Jesus had to say about homosexuality in the gospels?Perhaps you might like to study Matthew 7:1-3 before telling others how to live their lives.

The information you reference is from a collection of books by a collection of authors that have been translated and edited many times over.

I ask how this information is so clear, correct and absolute that it should be used to judge, hurt and control others?

I am not homosexual, but some of my friends are not "straight" either. We don't even consider preferences as a measurement of how strong or weak our relationships as friends are.

I am really not trying to be rude at all, I think God did the homosexual thing as a way to add even more variety to the universe. I feel if I judge others that deeply and privately, then I am in a way calling God to answer up for a mistake...we were all created/put on earth by God ,right?

I am not a christian, neither am I homosexual, but one thing i fail to understand is that homosexuals are a species created by God. Can anybody convincingly explain me why does God have to install such opposite feelings to thesee homosexual people for them to get attracted to same sex. All straight people have the habit of getting attracted to opposite sex and that is way the process of evolution goes on. But when it comes to thes homo, God must have got some reasons to create them in that way. Showing some texts from Bible condemning these deeds only will lead to strengthening of the fact that God is bound to make mistakes, which i am never ready to accept. Some people have to say that this is test of God, but why is it that only handful of people have to undergo this stringent test for their lifetime and others have a easier way to just ignoring the whole ordeal.

Just think about the fact that everything has a reason behind it and we just need to do some thinking to understand the reasoning of the whole process.

Which version of the bible are you using? Did it ever occur to anyone that the translation of the bible could be wrong? Have you read any of the Torah (which is technically the old testament) and looked to see what the passage there reads as?

And why do you take it so literally anyways?

Personally I think its a guide to how we should live. The old testament is overruled by Jesus' teachings in many places. I wish people would see that.

Everyone has temptations to overcome while we're here on this earth. Just like, for some people, avoiding alcohol is a big temptation while for others, it's homosexual behavior. I agree with you about everything. It isn't a sin to be tempted to do this kind of acts...it's a sin to act upon them.

I hope I didn't come off as rude. If I did, then I'm truly sorry. Hopefully, others that answer on here can be mature enough to answer without being rude.

PS...If it isn't obvious, I'm not gay!

Gee, thanks for being a nice homophobe. We really appreciate that on our board. I hope my sarcasm isn't too obvious.

Regardless of what YOUR Bible may say, it is not an instrument designed by which you are to judge us. No, it is designed for you to judge yourself and your behavior. That is why you are advised not to judge. . .

The job of a good Christian is to treat each other right based upon the teachings in the Bible. It is not your duty, nor your right, to judge and condemn people based upon any biblical teachings. You are too apply those teachings to your own actions. God will be the final judge.

I think a good Christian would be asking a slightly reworded question in the religion section asking their brothers and sisters to help them not be judgmental and live in harmony with those that are different. If you will review American history, you will see that the Christian Bible was once used to justify slavery.
