Excellent question.

The short answer: - NO!

I once witnessed a spine tingling hypnotherapy session. The patient was part of an investigation into sub-conscious processes. When she was put under hypnosis, she was told to 'switch off', to enter the deepest state of rest she could. The question was then asked' - "Is there any part of you which is detached from this process, (the hypnosis) and is observing what we are doing; - if so, raise a finger."

Slowly but surely, her right index finger began to raise. It was very eerie.

The unconscious mind is believed to have fewer limitations than the conscious mind.

For example, a person can recall an otherwise unknown traumatic incident while under hypnosis.

This means that recordings of the time sequence continue even though there may not be consciousness.

People have claimed to recall operations while under general anaesthetic. Although they were 'unconscious' at the time, they were able to recall what was said during the operation in sufficient detail to impress those present with the truth of their experience.

So again, your answer is no! The unconscious mind is the 'hidden observer.'

Take care.

See, the unconscious means we are not conscious of it. So it must be already switched off !
If it is the sub-conscious that you are pointing at , it gets on only when the main conscious(or what ever that you experience prominently), is a bit quiet.
It is good to have some company, main, sub, or 'un'.. why switch off ?

hi Lucas For a start up i don't think there is an user-friendly answer for this as basically you may hit upon that. In all honesty it quite is not that significant nevertheless it would desire to not look as though that now. putting a label on your self is on no account a stable theory. maximum critically nevertheless, is which you stay genuine to your self. Being basic with your self can now and returned be complicated yet remember which you're Lucas first. Your sexuality isn't the finished of you as a guy or woman. Being 'gay' isn't some ailment. Please do not think of that i'm telling you that it will all be user-friendly while you're gay - as I went down that direction alongside time in the past. combating it or yet another guy won't make it circulate away. no rely what your sexuality is - you sound like a extreme-high quality guy. ;-)

unfortunetly not!!! you cant switch it off, it is part of being human, and a major part of the thinking proses!!! there are many theories about your unconscious, but the point that all theories agree on is that it is probably one of the most important parts of the human brains functionality!!

it aslo states that info that has not been prosessed properly yet is also "stored" in your unconscious thats why you remeber things later that you can't always think where it comes from immediately!!, as well as where do you think de ja voe comes from.... something you have seen but can't realy remeber when or where, this is that info in your unconscious that i mention!! all this make sense to you??

Even if you meditate, your unconscious will be "turned on". It's always there.

If we switched off our unconscious, even for a very short time, we would be in danger of permanent brain damage.

Yes, but we need to learn how to control our mind through meditation, etc..
It takes a long time to achieve that.
