I think that's wonderful!
My best friend passed away too and I named my two youngest children after her (first and middle name as their middle names).
I really like the Laurel Crown idea, so keep checking that. A geneology group would probably have a more specific answer on the meaning of her name.
We love Disneyland and so I am going to get a Tinkerbell spelling out the names of my children in Pixie Dust on my shoulder.

I wouldn't worry so much about other people's definitions. Go with what has meaning to you. After all, it's going to be on YOUR body, so how you feel about it is key. If you really like the laurel crown idea, then go with it.

Go by what the names mean to you.
You can dig up definitions for all sorts of things for every name. (If you go to Newfoundland, Canada. A Kalie is a small house party with lots of drinking, and music played by the guests)
Find something meaningful to you, not some stranger.

Don't worry about the meaning. Think of some things that are special and remind you of her. My daughter is a free spirit so maybe pixies. She loves the outdoors so maybe some flowers.

I'm not into tattoos, but I would pick a symbol you like--possibly your daughter's Zodiac sign--and put her name (or initials) and date of birth under it in a scroll.
Remember that tattoos are usually permanent, so whatever you choose you are going to be stuck with it.

In honor of your daughter and your late friend, you could get something with an angel looking over a smaller angel. That would be pretty.
