Is it true that certain positions when trying to conceive, better your chances of conception and is it true that having sex every day around ovulation is not good because sperm count may lower? Is every other day better? I read so many different articles and search on google but every site is different and some give conflicting information. Just want to hear it from every day people like you! Thank you :)

You being either on your back or on top is good! But sperm are fast swimmers, they will find their destination! It sound like you need to chart your cycle and find out when your body ovulates.

"The most fertile period (meaning the best time to have intercourse) consists of the few days before ovulation. There are a number of reasons why this is the most fertile time. First of all, the amount of cervical fluid increases - and the consistency of the mucus changes substantially (from being sticky and cloudy to becoming transparent, white, and slippery). The purpose of this change is to create a healthy medium for the sperm to survive and travel in. Given a fertile environment, sperm can live several days. The egg, on the other hand, can live only 24 hours - so timing is important. At the moment of ovulation, the body temperature begins to rise to create a warmer, more hospitable environment for a fertilized egg." from the WWC website

Go to the website below. This is my dr.'s website and it talks about Fertility and the have good fertiltiy links too.

Missionary position is best when trying to conceive. As long as your partner has a good sperm count (you wouldn't know this unless you've had infertility testing done), having sex every day (or more than once a day!) when you're most fertile should be fine. Some say every other day to give time for sperm to replenish and mature. It's also assumed that this would give an equal chance for conception because sperm can live for 3-5 days inside a woman's body, so if you have sex the day before your most fertile day, sperm should still be alive the next day when you're most fertile. It only takes one sperm to fertilize an egg, so as long as he has that however often you decide to try to conceive (every day, twice a day, every other day...) and as long as you're having sex during your most fertile time, you should be okay ;).

Everything can get REALLY confusing between the articles, websites, etc. Try not to stress yourself out too much because it will make it that much harder to get pregnant. If you haven't read it yet, the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler is wonderful! It has been a wonderful guide for me so far and I try to just read it when I have a question and just go on what I read there instead of looking things up and getting confused because one website says one thing and another says something completely different.

Good luck!

Jacki the position or the number of times matter only a little. To get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.

After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.

After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.

Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 5 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

Running around like rabbits for days before ovulation can lower sperm count, but if there isn't a count problem, why worry.... you have (assumably) one egg... he has millions of those little critters!

How long have you been trying? If it's been less than a year, kick back relax and ENJOY the sex for awhile... could be your last chance to have sex with the bedroom door open for years!

that is all old school theory. ya know, it's also true that if you are standing on your head when you have sex then gravity will also pull the sperm towards your ovaries. If you are trying to conceive then go to the doctor. It's probably the only way if you cannot conceive thus far. Or as many would say on here you can just pray about it. That should work

When we were first going through fertility treatment, my doctor said that after intercourse to elevate your hips with a pillow so that the sperm is less likely to leak out. I would lay on my back, put the pillow under my hips with my feet flat on the mattress and my knees bent in the air. Unfortunately, this did not work because I had a lot of other fertility issues that were undiscovered at the time, but it may work for you!

Good luck!

Missionary position is generally considered the best position because the sperm is deposited closest to the cervix.

How often depends on your DH's sperm count. If it is less than normal then every other day is the recommendation. Otherwise every day is fine too.

About the only weird thing I have ever heard that seems to have some science on its side is - after you have sex, sit upside down. It's not anything major, but it apparently makes some difference.

Simply laying down helps too.

You can also try douching. Sounds contrary, but you can actually help push the sperm farther up there.

Good luck!

"How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby" is a great book that goes into depth about this. I remember them saying that having the woman orgasm at the same time as the male is important, as it "draws" the sperm into her. It didn't say much about positions that I can remember. Good Luck!

Believe it or not, you could be trying toooo hard!!!!
Give it a rest....Both should relax for 1 week............Then only have sex once a week to.get some of the pressure off of both of you.....Try this for a month. and believe it or not when you are relaxed and not thinking about it 24/7, you will conceive.
Trust me, please..Good luck!
