Is there a rule about singing in the BB house? Why are they not allowed to do it?

Cos of copyright laws. They can't show any footage if the house mates are singing. So they might miss out on something good, so BB says no singing!

singing in BB Allstars has is frowned upon because it carries so far through the house.... thus covering up conversations that others might be trying to hide from the cameras and mics

That's correct. It is because the songs are copyrighted and cannot be sung on TV without permission from the songwriter or whoever has the rights to the song.
