Neither. Get your degree in physical education, coach a girls team, and get your IT credentials in your spare time. Get plenty of practical experience as a freelancer in all phases of the field, find unique applications that you can call your own and then, when credentialed, apply for the best job with the most generous time open allotments. I suggest a PE degree because they have less homework to grade so you have more free time.

The best jobs, I think, would involve security system operations or, better yet, trouble shooting critical operating systems of any kind. This is where a broad background on your own would help. I have a friend who was the chief of emergency IT response for a major airline in Miami. When systems went down, and no one else could solve the problem, he was called in to get it up again, booking , flight schedule, landing and docking or other glitch fixed. He worked three or four days every two or three months, sometimes two or three days straight, and was paid on a monthly retainer, and paid handsomely at that. In many cases, the airline was grounded until he solved the problem. Good work if you can find it. He's one of a handful of IT specialists I've met operating as troubleshooters. Seems there's quite a demand for them out there.

From my option and work experience, I would vote for system security because of the prevalent of Sarban Oxley and compliance that is hitting all companies in US. On July 15th this year, all foreign companies that are trading in the US stock market are required to be complied w/ Sarban Oxley, which means companies have to maintain data integrity, and that is where system security comes in. System security is a hot niche but you will have to acquire certification and keep up with the new IT stuff to be valuable in the market.

IT management is too general but probably be a good fit into a lot of IT job area. You can do DB, HW, storage...etc. Oh yeah, if you go for IT mgt, maybe you should look into Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery. This is getting very important to many companies (esp banking) after 9/11.
