Hi

I'm losing my job due to calling in sick too much. I've been fatigued.

My rheumetologist diagnosed me today with Lupus.

He brought up that I should look into Disability/Social security benefits to support myself.

I am in Indiana. does anybody know how much per month you get? I know nothing about this

Thanks

I just received my approval letter for disability today.I have trying for disability for 2 1/2 YEARS.

The amount you make is based on credits earned. This is depending on how long you have worked and your income. I am an LPN and i made 12-24 dollars per hour so I had earned enough credits for $918.00 per month. Then my kids who live with their father will receive a monthly check also.

It don't matter what state you live in b/c the disability is the same for state to state.

HAVE YOU LOST YOUR JOB YET OR ARE YOU STILL WORKING? THAT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE.

If your doctor told you to look into disability, he has to do some paperwork to document your illness.
You might not be awarded disability for two years. It is retroactive but that is a long time to wait if you need the money.

That's our worthless government at work again. You become too sick to hold down a job. But you still have bills to pay, etc. But it takes forever to get money.

The amount you receive is figured on what your income has been just as regular social security is figured. You could call social security and find out what you would draw.

I was lucky, I am drawing on long term disability from my emplorer. I had to wait 90 days. I can tell you one thing, it is a paperwork nightmare and you have to do it all while you do not feel well enough to do anything..........

Hi, I am sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. I was diagnosed with lupus 2.5 years ago. There was large red welts on my face. They took a tissue biopsy and discovered the illness. Lupus is NOT a death sentence. I was on steroids for 19 months because of my fatigue and weakness. Yes, I did put on some weight, but I am able to work and take care of my 2 young children single handed. I also take Plaquenil and Celebrex to aid with the joint/tissue swelling. Anyway, Social Security is awarded by how long your entire employment history is, and how much you have earned. The more $ you have earned, the more $ you have paid in, the bigger your monthly benefit. Lotsa luck, I will keep you in my thoughts!
