Does your car start? Though all the answerer's are hitting around the right idea. Due to the large draw on your battery when you try to start your car, if you have a bad ground or for that matter a bad cable, your car will appear to "die". More over, a bad body ground will affect ONLY the circuit that it is attached to. For instance, if your turn signals are not working properly. If you have changed all the bulbs and they still flash "weird",ie. slow or "just don't look right", you may have a bad ground on THAT circuit. This has happened to me and it took a while to track it down. What is the year and make of your vehicle?

One of the easiest ways of finding out if you have a bad body ground, or bad earthing on a vehicle, is to remove the cable that is connected to the negative plug on the battery, and removing it from wherever it is connected to the vehicle.
Check around this connection area for any rust, and/or corrosion of any kind. If there is rust or corrosion, clean it up with a good wire brush and with some course graded sand paper to take it back to a good clean rust free surface.
Re-attach the earthing cable to the body work, and to the battery, and then check your electrics with a voltage metre for any faults.

Any electrical/electronic component in the car (lights, radio, wipers, etc.) that doesn't use a separate, dedicated ground will not operate properly if the body ground is poor.
