how do we get rid of a family of skunks that lives on my yard?

My friend has a family of skunks that lives in her front porch. She would trap them every year and bring them to another location. But they keep coming back. Is there anything she could use to prevent them from coming back every year?

I would recommend trapping them and having animal control come pick them up. Skunks carry several diseases including rabies. You also need to try to seal up any areas that allow them to get under the porch - this will help keep them from returning. Also - dont leave pet food out- they love cat and dog food- its a big attractant

First, never surprise them now. When she goes to the door, she should stamp her feet loudly so they know she's coming.
Can she trap them again, and take them at least 100 miles away or something to a national park, which is located on the other side of the Mississippi River? If it doesn't work after that, call the Discovery Channel and get them to send a few scientists to investigate why those skunks are so darn loyal to your friend.

You can trap them, as I have heard that they won't spray in a small confined area. I wouldn't bet that they will smell good though, so I would transport them in an open pickup to another location. Skunks like grubs so it is likely that your yard has them. You might want to try killing the grubs with a lawn treatment and maybe they will go elsewhere if there is nothing to eat. Good luck! I got stuck in a crawl space with one, one time, so I am no fan of skunks!

If there is animal control in your area try calling them. Don't know if they would help but worth a try. I used to have a family skunks lived next door to me. I would throw out my leftovers for stray cats,the skunks would eat . I have even dumped it on their heads by accident{lol}
