Hi.
Thong underware comes from Brazil.
The two piece Brazilian bathing suit known as Tanga evolved into underware ,first in Brazil and Argentina ,then in Europe and finally in the USA.
It's been around for more than15 years.

I don't know who made them, but they did start becoming popular when they were worn on the runway under slip dresses...they showed panty lines so something that left no line was needed. Then I suppose men decided they liked them, so Victoria's Secret sold them, and the rest is history!
