For example, failing to capitalize I's, using "plz" for "please", "ppl" for "people", or omitting simple punctuation. I'm not talking typos here, I'm talking the things everybody learns in grade school. It's all very well to have a spell checker or grammar checker, but it's no substitute for readable typing. Am I the only one that gets ticked when the typing is not legible?

Laziness, sloppiness and illiteracy are the culprits here. Blame the failing schools? Or the culture of the Internet? Whatever the cause, it annoys the hell out of me that people won't take the trouble to make themselves understood. I would respond to more questions on this forum if I only understood what the questioner was asking!

Gees! And here I am from the old school trying to learn the shortcuts! I wish there were more typing space on contact spaces and for the comments. That is why I've tried to learn it. I actually go over my postings to check for errors, even spacing after periods and such! Some of the incoherent ramblings and run-ons are so bad that I just skip them rather than get a headache from trying to comprehend the question. It is good to hear from folks that enjoy appropriate words and grammar.

I'm totally with you on this one, i hate it so much I've taken to getting 2 points just for correcting people's grammar and punctuation in a question. Also I've noticed that people don't use the correct "there" "their" or "they're." Last but not least, "to" "too" and "two"

It bugs the hell out of me that people can't even form a comprehensible sentence nevermind the abbreviated bad spelling! I also hate that people don't know the difference between homonyms, e.g., their/there and they're; your and you're! Do they not teach English grammar in schools anymore?

And, redfernkitty, I think you meant "immensely". Good God!

Well , i'm not pissed but it does annoy me sometime. The other one is when they think using letters as words is ok , like "r u gonna be..." , that kinda thing. I believe most of this is just plain being lazy, and BOY are there a whole bunch of lazy people!

I don't mind the shorthand instances that you've cited...they are comprehensible...and poor spelling does not bother me either...heck, even I forget to run spell check most of the time.

But incoherent thoughts really annoy me. And I kind of get annoyed at misappropriate uses of 'its' it's', 'there', 'they;re' 'their' 'to' 'too'...but I have been guilty of those as a result of typos.
