It has a 135 HP OMC/Cobra in it with a cracked block right now.

Blackey is correct in there are two different crankshafts. The way around it is to match the correct engine coupler. You will need to use the OMC belhousing, coupler, and wire harness( different boat harness plugs). If the cranks are different, you will need a new coupler. The 135 hp omc is the same 3.0l as Mercruiser. The 140 is also a 3.0l, only older.

Your boat probably has a one-piece rear main seal - if so, it would be easier to replace your existing motor with a 140 that has a one-piece rear main seal. Many older 120 and 140 engines have a two-piece rear main seal - the difference is that when you go to replace the engine, things like the oil pan, coupler, valve cover, etc. may have different bolt patterns. Here's a good guideline - if it's not an electronic ignition distributor, you probably have a two-piece rear main seal. If it's an electronic ignition distributor, you probably have a one-piece rear main seal.
