Should the people of Katrina who Neglected there pets go to jail.?
If People left their child they would most defiantly go to jail.
Do you think the helpless animals had no choice in anything?

Normally, I have no mercy for those who abandon their pets, but in this case, most of them had no choice. In the course of a few days, they lost their home, cars, most all their possessions. Some even lost close friends and family to the storms. I think it's asking a bit much for them to keep their pets safe through all this, too. I love my dog more than anything, but there is a big difference between a pet and a child. If a child was left alone during the aftermath of Katrina, they would surely die, but a lot of the pets survived days without their family, and would up getting rescued. Animals are a lot of things, but they are not helpless. They have really good instincts for surviving just about anything.

Normally I would say yes, but due to the "trying to survive themselves" bit, I don't think so.

This is similar to the old "If a family is in a house fire and they can't get their dog out in time..." question. Should they get prosecuted for that?
