Mytho logy.....
Mythos= something that is tranfered by the voice
logy=> logia= study
actually Mythology is not fairytail....but story that has been given by the voice...mouth to mouth. Therefore we should be able to say that Mythology is Prehistory without strong "historical" reamins or evidences. But the history has shown that time to time...mythological pieces unearted and become Historical facts.

Years ago (about 200) Trojan war was mythology and only inHomer's Iliad existed until Shleeman unearthed ILION and proved that Priamo's Ilion was the 5th city and Trojan war took place about 1300BC.

I could write volumes about Greek Mythology....by it is not the place.

If you want to know and learn more about Greek Mythology go to NASA's site. All the Universe is full of Greek mythology stories...and names.

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/apod/apod_search

it is the search engine... Just put "Greek Mythology" and ENTER.... or put any of the greek mythology.....there will be a celestial body with this name....
GOOD LUCK

It is all Greek to me.....

Sorry had to say that. I like Greek mythology it was a lot more peaceful than what the Romans did to it. And I liked that Athena would always win over Ares because she used her head instead of just brute force. There is a lesson there.

I like it very much, but I prefer Egyptian mythology. The Greeks thought a lot like us, but the Egyptians had a whole different way of thinking. I really like trying to understand it.

Ya, the Greeks & Romans never had religious problems. You just chose your favourite god/goddess for the day or whatever and didn't kill your neighbour because he/she was praying differently. If you wanted to catch a boyfried/girlfriend you would pray to Aphrodite/Venus to help you. She was the goddess of fertility and love.

You should look at Robert Graves' GREEK MYTHS in you would like to explore more.

The Greeks covered just about every psychological question in their myths and legends, it makes great reading! For a girl name I think Hellene, not only a goddess of battle but also of military arts, knowledge, and wisdom. In contrast to Ares, who was mostly about nonthinking physical prowess. Note Hellene's love for Ulysses and her praise for his cleverness, guile and cunning! Also the suggestion for the Trojan Horse as a military ploy! Beauty and Brains conquer all.

Greek mythology is very interesting, though some of the true stories are very dark and filled with sexual innuendo.

Aphrodite. And yea, it's pretty interesting.

Funny - what used to be a mass religion is now, to us, mythology. I wonder what Christianity, Judaism, and Islam will be in a few more centuries.
