my 30GB iPod suddenly froze, when I was taking it out of its case it slipped out of my hand, hit the floor and cracked the screen (it got really hot and made squeaky noises).

is there any way I can get it repaired. I've already tried the Apple care plan: no use. Or is it dead.

AppleCare is only good for manufacture defects (hard drive crashes, etc.). Since you dropped it, they will not replace it. Which sucks because they will not replace any of your personally damaged parts on their dollar.

So, take it into an Apple store or re-seller and see if they repair them there. If you find one, you will have to pay for it out of your own pocket.

Sorry to hear about your iPod...

Sorry, even if you had the 1 year warranty, apple will only replace the ipod if the damage was not your fault. There are very strict rules about cracked screens. My friend had a barely visible crack in his screen and because of this, his warranty was voided. Yes I know it sucks.

Apples apple care is the best servise in the world. Call them up and if you have bought the apple care plan for your iPod then they will promptly send you a box in which to send it back to them and then they will either fix it for you or give you a new one. But if you dont have apple care and it is passed the warrenty then you are out of luck. sorry. But you might still be able to buy the apple care now after it is broken.

You could try to see if your credit card insures purchases - hopefully you bought it with Amex.

Yeah, the problem with the warranty is that it was dropped and cracked! They only cover if it freezes or the pixles go bad.

You can leave it in your unopened car and maybe someone will steal it.

the warranty is for one year. if you bring it to an apple store they should replace it free of charge. if it's after the one year warranty I(like most of us who have broken ipods) then you're out of luck. sorry :(
